Eucalyptus Hydrosol
INCI Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Water
Overview
The softly camphorous water co-produced when eucalyptus is steam-distilled for its essential oil.
What it is
Eucalyptus Hydrosol is the water collected when eucalyptus leaves are steam-distilled. It carries a much gentler version of eucalyptus’s crisp, cooling character.
Where it comes from and how it’s made
Eucalyptus is grown widely, both in its native Australia and in cultivated groves elsewhere. The water that condenses alongside the essential oil during distillation is collected separately as the hydrosol.
What it does in a formulation
As a light, fragrant water, Eucalyptus Hydrosol is used in place of some or all of the water in a formula, giving the finished product a soft, cooling note.
Why Lovebee uses it
We like this one when we want a gentler echo of eucalyptus’s crisp character rather than the full intensity of the essential oil — it’s an easy way to bring that cooling freshness into a lighter formula.
