German Chamomile Hydrosol

INCI Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf/Stem Water

Overview

A gentle, herbaceous hydrosol distilled from German chamomile flowers.

What it is

German Chamomile Hydrosol is the water collected when German chamomile is steam-distilled. It carries a soft, herbaceous, faintly sweet character.

Where it comes from and how it’s made

German chamomile is grown widely across Europe. The water that condenses alongside the essential oil during distillation is collected separately as the hydrosol.

What it does in a formulation

As a light, fragrant water, German Chamomile Hydrosol is used in place of some or all of the water in a formula, bringing a soft, herbaceous note into the finished product.

Why Lovebee uses it

Chamomile’s gentle, trusted reputation carries through beautifully in hydrosol form — we like it for formulas that want that same calm, familiar character in a softer register.

Good to know

  • Vegan and entirely plant-derived.
