Rose Geranium Essential Oil

INCI Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil

Overview

A bright, rosy essential oil distilled from rose geranium, often used as a more affordable echo of true rose.

What it is

Rose Geranium Essential Oil is distilled from Pelargonium graveolens. It carries a bright, rosy, slightly green character that’s often used to evoke rose’s floral quality at a fraction of the cost.

Where it comes from and how it’s made

Pelargonium graveolens is grown widely, with significant production in Egypt and Réunion. The leaves and stems are steam-distilled to draw out the essential oil.

What it does in a formulation

Contributes a bright, rosy-green note to a finished product’s scent profile.

Why Lovebee uses it

Rose geranium gives us that lovely rosy brightness in a much more accessible form than true rose oil — a versatile floral note we like working into all kinds of blends.

Good to know

  • Used throughout our blended topical products; sold on its own as a single-note oil, it’s intended for diffuser use only.

Common questions

Is Rose Geranium the same as Rose Essential Oil?

No — they’re different plants, though rose geranium’s rosy character makes it a popular, more affordable alternative in fragrance.

What does Rose Geranium smell like?

Bright and rosy with a green, herbaceous edge.

Can I apply this essential oil directly to my skin?

Not as a standalone oil — on its own, it’s intended for diffuser use only. You’ll already find it safely blended into a number of our topical products, though.
