Rosemary Hydrosol
INCI Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Water
Overview
A soft, herbaceous hydrosol distilled from rosemary leaves.
What it is
Rosemary Hydrosol is the water collected when rosemary is steam-distilled for its essential oil. It carries a much gentler version of rosemary’s sharp, herbaceous character.
Where it comes from and how it’s made
Rosemary is grown widely across the Mediterranean and other temperate regions. The water that condenses alongside the essential oil during distillation is collected separately as the hydrosol.
What it does in a formulation
As a light, fragrant water, Rosemary Hydrosol is used in place of some or all of the water in a formula, bringing a soft, herbaceous note into the finished product.
Why Lovebee uses it
We like this one for formulas that want a whisper of rosemary’s crisp character without the intensity of the essential oil.
