Bergamot Essential Oil

INCI Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil

Overview

A bright, citrusy essential oil pressed from bergamot peel, familiar as the signature scent of Earl Grey tea.

What it is

Bergamot Essential Oil comes from the peel of the bergamot orange, a citrus fruit grown mostly for its fragrance rather than for eating. It has a distinctive bright, slightly floral citrus scent — most people recognize it instantly from Earl Grey tea.

Where it comes from and how it’s made

Bergamot is grown primarily in southern Italy, particularly the Calabria region. The oil is cold-pressed from the peel of the fruit.

What it does in a formulation

Contributes a bright, citrusy top note to a finished product’s scent profile.

Why Lovebee uses it

Bergamot has that instantly recognizable brightness — it lifts a scent blend the moment it’s added. We like working it into formulas that want a fresh, citrusy opening note that still carries a little floral depth underneath.

Good to know

  • Used throughout our blended topical products; sold on its own as a single-note oil, it’s intended for diffuser use only.
