Rose Essential Oil (Damask)
INCI Rosa Damascena Flower Oil
Overview
A rich, deeply floral essential oil distilled from Damask rose petals.
What it is
Rose Essential Oil is distilled from the petals of Rosa damascena, the Damask rose, one of the most prized flowers in perfumery. It takes an enormous quantity of petals to yield even a small amount of oil, which is part of why true rose oil is so treasured.
Where it comes from and how it’s made
Damask roses are grown widely across regions including Bulgaria, Turkey, and Iran. The petals are steam-distilled to draw out the essential oil.
What it does in a formulation
Contributes a rich, deeply floral note to a finished product’s scent profile.
Why Lovebee uses it
True rose oil is simply unmatched — nothing else captures that rich, layered floral depth quite the same way. We reserve it for blends where we want that extra touch of luxury.
Good to know
- Used throughout our blended topical products; sold on its own as a single-note oil, it’s intended for diffuser use only.
Common questions
- Why is Rose Essential Oil so prized?
It takes an enormous quantity of petals to produce even a small amount of oil, and its rich, complex floral character is difficult to replicate.
- Is Rose Essential Oil the same as Rose Hydrosol?
No. The hydrosol is the much more dilute water collected during distillation, while the essential oil is the concentrated aromatic compound.
- Can I apply this essential oil directly to my skin?
Not as a standalone oil — on its own, it’s intended for diffuser use only. You’ll already find it safely blended into a number of our topical products, though.
